Talisay teen caught in crossfire brought home

THE remains of 17-year-old Amie Camero, one of the casualties in the shootout at Playa Beach Resort in Bohol province last Sunday morning were brought to her family’s home at barangay Bulacao, Talisay City in a pump boat yesterday.

Her 24-year-old brother Jessy Camero said the family wants justice served for his sister, who was rumored to be the girlfriend of former policeman and alleged drug syndicate leader Owen Rosales.

Rosales died in the shootout hours after the murder of Talibon police chief George Caña near his home in Talibon town, Bohol province.

“She asked me for fare to go to Bohol but I didn’t give her because she frequently travels already. I don’t know where she got her fare. I really regret that I wasn’t able to stop Amie from going to Bohol,” Jessy said.

He said his sister Amie took up information technology (IT) at the College of Technological Sciences Cebu (CTS-C) and is supposed to be on her second year this month.

Camero said Amie’s friend and neighbor Jenny Labandero advised her not to go to Bohol because the situation is dangerous for her. He said Amie and Jenny went to Bohol previously.

“Jenny borrowed P2,000 to Amie but she paid it back after Amie died. Her mother said they have nothing to do with Amie’s death,” Camero said.

Jenny’s mother said her daughter is about to give birth and thus is unable to accompany Amie to Bohol.

The Commission on Human Rights said they will investigate Jenny because they want to be clarified if she brought Amie to Rosales.

“She did bring Amie to Bohol initially,” CHR lawyer Dante Jadman said.

Senior Supt. Dennis Agustin, chief of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) placed the whole province under heightened alert status after the deaths of Rosales and Caña.
