Toledo reports 8 recoveries, 5 new cases on July 14
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Eight more COVID-19 patients from Toledo City in the midwest have recovered from their infection.
The Toledo City Health Department on Tuesday evening, July 14, 2020, said that the eight patients yielded negative results during the repeat swab tests.
The eight new recoveries are Patient no. 33 from Dasmasico, Patient 26 from Ilihan, Patient 28 from Bato, Patient 35 from Magdugo, Patients 15, 32 and 30 from Poblacion, and Patient 24 from Sangi.
“Tungod sa bag-o nga 8 mi total na [og] 18 ka recoveries [ang] ato syudad,” the Toledo City Health Department reported.
(With the addition of the eight new recoveries, our city now has a total of 18 recoveries.)
However, the city also logged five additional COVID-19 infections on Tuesday. Three of the new patients are senior citizens.
Patient no. 87, a 62-year-old from DAS, is currently admitted to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and continues to be monitored.
Patient no. 88 is also from Barangay DAS. The 61-year-old, who works for a private company in Toledo City, is currently confined and is being monitored at the company’s hospital.
The city’s 89th case, meanwhile, is from Barangay Matab-ang. He is a 35-year-old man who is a close contact of the city’s patient no. 60.
Patient no. 90 is another senior citizen, a 62-year-old female resident of Barangay Calongcalong, and is a close contact of Patient no. 72. She continues to be under home quarantine.
The fifth patient logged on Tuesday is a 38-year-old woman from Barangay Luray II who has been exposed to a COVID-19 patient. She is also under home quarantine.
The City Health Department said it allows home isolation or quarantine for its cases provided that their residences qualify based on the home quarantine requirements upon inspection of the city’s contact tracing team.
The city is also using a hotel as its isolation facility.
Toledo City now has 67 active cases of COVID-19 and six related deaths. / dcb
