SYM exhibits his masterpieces at SM Art Center

The very talented Canada-based Cebuano artist Sofronio Ylanan Mendoza, populary known as SYM, showcases his artworks at the newly-renovated Art Center in SM City Cebu.

The exhibit dubbed “SYM Summation: 1978-2014”, presented by the Hiraya Gallery, opened on November 21 in an intimate gathering of fellow artists, art enthusiasts, and close friends of the artist. SYM was joined by his wife Ely, prominent artist Romulo Galicano, and SM Prime Holdings vice president Marissa Fernan, during the unveiling of SYM Summation art exhibit.

The exhibit gathers a wide sampling of the different techniques and styles the artist had immersed himself in over the years beginning 1978 until the present. A multi-awarded legendary artist highly regarded by his colleagues and respected in the community finds great joy in sharing his vast knowledge on all nuances of art. SYM’s devotion and passion for art is evidenced in his masterful prolific collection of paintings.

Mendoza is the founder of a school of artists known as the Dimasalang Groups I (1968) and II (1970s) in Manila, Philippines. A decade later in the 1980s, he founded Dimasalang III in Canada.

SYM Summation: 1978-2014 will run until December 21, 2014 at the newly-renovated Art Center in SM City Cebu. The art exhibit is also supported by SM Seaside City Cebu.
