The remains of PO1 Windel Candano will be buried on Sunday  at the Cebu South Memorial Garden in Talisay City.

Before that, a  two-day wake will be held at the home of Michelle Candano in barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

Interior Government Secretary Mar Roxas told the family he may attend the vigil wake in Dumanjug town this week before the remains are brought to Mambaling, said Candano’s father Eusebio.

A necrological service will be held tomorrow at the Dumanjug Sports Complex.

Candano’s father  also questioned how President Aquino and Secretary Roxas didn’t know about “Oplan Wolverine” that resulted in the deaths of the 44 Special Action Forces (SAF) police commandos in Mamasapano town, Maguindanao province.

“Impossible nga wa sila masayod, sila gud maoy labaw (It’s impossible that they don’t know, they are the ones in authority),” he said in a radio interview.

Candano’s father recalled that he kept his emotions in check when President Aquino met  his son’s wife Michelle at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, opting to listen to their conversation instead.

Dumanjug Vice Mayor Efren Guntrano Gica confirmed that  the municipal government  approved P20,000 in cash assistance for  the Candano family for  hospital and burial expenses.

Another P80,000 will be given to the family, he said.

Candano is a native of barangay Lawaan, Dumanjug town.

Mayor Nelson Garcia said their family would  set up a trust fund for the educational expenses of Candano’s 7-year-old son, Sian  Gabriel.

Under the terms, the son can only receive the benefits of the trust fund when he reaches the age of 18.

Those who want to donate to the trust fund can go to the  CFI Cooperative at the Capitol compound, said the mayor.
