Body of man found dumped in Camp 7, Minglanilla

CEBU, Philippines— A body of a man was discovered at the side of the Toledo-Manipis Road in Sitio Telepuno, Barangay Camp 7, Minglanilla town, Cebu on Monday morning, September 18, 2023.

The body was found in Camp 7 at around  7 a.m., according to an initial report from the Minglanilla police. It was said to be discovered by students who were passing the area, the police report said.

The report identified the victim as Dhinz Adzyl Abadilla Zabala, who is 32 years old and a resident of Barangay Sambag 1 in Cebu City. 

Camp 7, locally known as Campo Siete, is a mountain barangay that is around 23 kilometers from Sambag 1 in Cebu City. 

According to police, the victim’s aunt identified the body on Monday morning.

Initial investigation revealed that residents in Camp 7 heard at least three bursts of gunfire at around 2 a.m. on Monday.

Later on, students on their way to school noticed empty shells of bullets at the side of the road. That led them to discover the body nearby.

The victim, according to the police report, sustained several gunshot wounds at the back of his head. 

No suspect has been named so far.

Police in Minglanilla continue to investigate the murder as of this posting.  /bmjo
