Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team reaches historic 800-win milestone
CEBU CITY, Philippines—The vaunted Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team p/b LUN Wheels cycling team made an unprecedented feat after clinching their 800th first-place win earlier this month.
This rare milestone was officially announced by the team’s founder and team owner, Keith DeFiebre.
DeFiebre and his team have been known for seven years as one of the country’s top cycling teams in both the road and mountain bike categories.
With 30 cyclists throughout the years, the team hauled enough first-place wins that put them at the summit of success.
The team’s most recent win was last October 15 during the Dulhog Magdooc Downhill MTB race in the City of Naga, south Cebu, where Dongkey Sanchez topped his category, marking the team’s 800th first-place win.
“Certainly 800 wins in just seven years was much more than I had ever hoped for,” said the California-based DeFiebre.
“I do not know of any other team that has won 800 times in its first 7 years. We have made history our own unique way, and for me that is priceless.” Mission accomplished here.”
DeFiebre himself has contributed hugely to their win count, winning 44 races during his trips to Cebu.
In their first year in 2017, the team incredibly amassed 75 wins, featuring then young male and female cyclists, until their wins started to pile up.
What makes this team dynamic is they didn’t just join mountain bike and road bike races. it also includes off-road duathlon, downhill, team relays, circuit races, enduro, and individual time trials.
The bulk of their 800-win count comes from various races in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Also, they stamped class in the national scene, particularly the PHIL Cycling National Races, Batang Pinoy National Finals, and other national-level races, winning multiple gold medals.
Some of Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team’s most notable cyclists are Khalil Sanchez, Pamela Jane Ruiz, Athena Marie Magpantay, and Dongkey Sanchez.
The rest of the team is composed of Carla Flotenia, Princess Colegado, Annicka Ampodia, Nilo Barbalose, Melvin Codoy, AJ Talls, Josa Mancao, Margo Patindol, Alexa Nombrado, and Rhea Pardillo.
“For now, we can say that 800 wins in 7 years is an accomplishment that stands alone for bike race teams in the entire Philippines. Clearly, it is mission accomplished for Keith DeFiebre and the Team,” DeFiebre said.
