The semifinals cast in the 18-Under Girl’s division of the 20th JRG Gullas Cup age group tennis tournament is already set after Kristin Renee Salimbangon and Mary Calma defeated their respective rivals yesterday at the CitiGreen Tennis Resort in Labangon, Cebu City.
Salimbangon inked an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory over Josette Nator to barge into the next round and forge a semifinals encounter versus the waiting top seed Janelle Llavore.
Calma, on the other hand, blasted away Pherl Coderos, 6-1, 6-1, to arrange a semis battle versus no.2 seed Shynne Villareal from the City of Naga, Cebu.
Llavore and Villareal drew byes in the competition owing to their higher seedings.
In the premier Boys 18-Under division, no.2 seed Rey Dante Toledo bagged the first quarterfinals seat as he overpowered John Madrid, 6-2, 6-0, in the lone match-up of the age category yesterday.
In the 10-Under Unisex division, Lapu-Lapu City’s pride Tifanny Claire Nocos zoomed into the semifinal round following a dominating 4-0, 4-0 victory over Rafael Gonzales.
She will be waiting for the winner between Hans Cabellon and Mitch Largo for her semis foe.
Lyrah Mae Repollo, for her part, entered the 12-u Girl’s semifinals with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Ysabelle Gian.
