THE GILAS Cadets advanced to the semifinals after trashing the debuting Timor Leste, 126-21, in the Southeast Asian Games basketball competition last night at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

The result was hardly in doubt as the Filipinos raced off to a 40-3 lead off an incredible 38-0 run that set the tone for the lopsided victory.

The victory placed the Gilas on top of Group A which means they will face off against Singapore or Thailand in the semifinals.

La Salle forward Prince Rivero led the team with 24 points on 12-of-13 shooting while Kevin Ferrer had 19 markers.
