2nd Davies Paint Cup basketball tourney starts today

ARCHITECTS and engineers alike converge in a test of basketball will as the 2nd Davies Paints Cup kicks off this evening at the University of San Carlos gym.
The new season of the twice-a-year basketball competition was launched on Thursday at the Swank Scape Skydeck of the Azon Residences in Lapu-Lapu City.
The simple ceremonies gathered the Board of Directors of the tournament led by president Paolo Alberto along with vice presidents Josephril Partosa, Rey Nino Cag-ong and Jun Villacorta.
The competing teams are being led by the defending Davies Paints Cup champions Mortaflex led by MVP Ed Macasling, Corporate Cup champions Megacryl500 bannered by Loreniel Tequin and Malvin Malicdem and Bio-Fresh+, the core of which is composed of the titleholders of the recently concluded United Architects Basketball Club. The other competing teams are Sun & Rain, ElastoGel Extreme and Mondo Skimcoat.
The teams will play a single round-robin with the top four advancing to the semifinal round, the top two finishers getting a twice-to-beat bonus. The finals will be a one-game affair as well.
The tournament is being backed by Davies Paints Philippines, Kone, Icon Fenstech Inc., LG & L Plastic Roof and American Standard. Also supporting are As-Es Tailoring and Z1 Trading.
