A 79-YEAR-OLD man died after he was run over a passenger bus along the national highway of Barangay Cogon West, in Carmen town, northern Cebu. Police identified the victim as Benedicto Hermoso of Barangay Cogon East.
PO2 Ralph Laurel, investigator of Carmen police station, said Hermoso was heading home around 2 a.m. yesterday after a drinking session but instead passed out in the middle of the road. A Ceres bus bound for north ran over the victim causing his instantaneous death. The driver sped off.
In San Fernando, southern Cebu, a 38-year-old man also died after he was hit by a speeding Ceres bus (GXU 980) driven by Temestocles Cansiller Jr., 33, of Calatraba, Negros Occidental around 6 p.m. last Wednesday in Barangay Lakaron.
PO2 Oscar Codilla of San Fernando Police Station said the victim, Rodrigo Tora of Barangay Inoburan, Naga City, suddenly crossed the street, catching the driver off guard. The bus was bound for Cebu City. Tora was pronounced dead at the San Fernando district hospital while Cansiller surrendered to the police.
