THE WAIT is over.
The hit segment “Kalyeserye” came back with a bang, as it opened anew, announcing the engagement of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards on “Eat Bulaga’s” Saturday episode.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life,” Alden quipped as he was asked by his Lola Babah (Ai Ai delas Alas) if he was sure about marrying Maine.
The live audience at the Broadway Centrum cheered as the rest of the hosts of “Eat Bulaga” can be seen, all eyes glued to the splitscreen that featured the three lolas—Nidora, Tinidora and Tidora, Lola Babah, Rogelia, the Rogelios, Maine and Alden, who were at the mansion.
AlDub Nation showed their support online as the hashtag #ALDUBAnew maintained the top spot among the trending topics on Twitter, with over 2 million tweets as of 8 p.m.
yesterday.
The episode started the narration five years after Maine and Alden became official lovers in Kalyeserye. Lolas Tinidora, Tidora and Nidora also came back from their vacation in America that served as the reunion of the three Lolas.
Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) ushered the episode with her busy preparing for a major event, that was eventually revealed as the pamamanhikan. Alden was accompanied by his Lola Babah to ask permission from the three Lolas to marry Maine.
“Sa hinaba-haba man ng prosesyon, sa simbahan din ang tuloy,” said Lola Nidora as she was asked by Alden to give her blessing for the two.
Fans of the Kalyeserye darlings became nostalgic as Maine wore the same red dress she used during Alden’s first visit to the mansion last year when they were not even
allowed to get near each other.
She slowly descended from the stairs as Alden waited. Both shared a brief dance and a hug.
“Lola, matagal din namin tong hinintay. Inayos po namin ang buhay namin, ‘yung mga trabaho namin para maging handa po kami sa kinabukasan po naming dalawa ni Maine.
Lola, ito na po ‘yung tamang panahon. Handang-handa na po ako na ang buhay ko ay magiging buhay niya at ang buhay niya ay magiging buhay ko,” said Alden.
Maine, for her part, said that what she only want in life is to have her own big family, spend the rest of her life with the man that he loves and jokingly said that she wants to have at least 32 kids.
“Yun lang po kasi ‘yung pangarap ko eh, ‘yung makasama ko ‘yung mahal ko sa buhay at sigurado na po ako na si Alden ‘yun,” she said.
The episode ended with the Lolas asking when the wedding would be, shortly before the horn sounded.
