FOR committing a host of violations, the Mandaue City Governemnt has ordered MO2 Resto Bar closed.
Lawyer James Sayson, the Assistant City Legal Officer served the closure order signed by Mayor Luigi Quisumbing Monday afternoon. It was received by the restobar’s manager, Lito Atillo.
Copies of the closure order were also posted on some areas of the building. However, operations in the West Town Lagoon, MO2’s sister company went on as it has a separate permit.
MO2 was found to be operating without the permit for two consecutive years from 2016 to 2017.
“They work out with their permit during the renewal period but won’t finish it for the second half of the year, and this is done for two consecutive years and they just pay the penalty. They are trying to skirt out the process of the business permit,” said Sayson.
Another violation cited by Sayson was when the restobar hosted a Sinulog event without a permit.
Mayor Quisumbing earlier said that a permit for a special event is needed as the city has to deploy traffic enforcers and policemen to preserve law and order.
But Atillo said, MO2 Restobar should not be faulted as it was just the venue and not the organizer of the event.
Another reason for its closure as cited by Sayson, was the failure of the bar to maintain peace and order as shown by the 27 recorded incidents of trouble coming from the bar which even involed their bouncers, security guards and supervisor.
Furthermore, numerous complaints from neighboring houses and establishments have been received by the mayor’s office regarding the loud noise coming from the restobar. It was found out that the complaints were never addressed by the bar despite due notice from the city.
However, Sayson said that should MO2 intend to operate again, they may write the mayor for reconsideration.
As to the bar’s employees affected by the closure, Sayson said they can ask assistance from the PESO office or the City’s Skill Training and Development Center.
Earlier, two entertainment bars in Mandaue were also ordered closed for numerous violations. They include Sentral Bar and Lounge located at Norkis Cyberpark and owned by Mayor Quisumbing’s first degree cousin and Club Hatchi located at MC Briones Highway in Barangay Tipolo.
