ACTION in the Men’s Open category of the 19th Aboitiz Football Cup heats up with the quarterfinal round to be contested today at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Defending champions Leylam FC will open the Final 8 round with a game against the Don Bosco Football Club while runner-up ERCO will take on the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

Another quarterfinal match pits the Rising Sun and the Avengers, who advanced to the quarterfinals with an 8-0 blanking of Carmelitos last Friday night at the Paref Springdale football field.

The remaining semifinals slot will be contested between 5-time Cesafi champions University of San Carlos and Samba.

Meanwhile, the scheduled finals and fight for third in the Under 11 Mix category was rescheduled to March 10 as well as the semifinals match between Ateneo A and Pomeroy in the U15 Boys.

The U15 boys quarterfinals, however, pushed through with Don Bosco A squeaking past Springdale 1-0.

In the 38 Above category also played last Friday, Rising Sun blanked Echelon 2-0.

The Rising Sun hopes to add to its points when it faces Don Bosco United Football Club (DBUFC) this morning at the Don Bosco Magone pitch in Punta Princesa while Echelon hopes to recover when it goes up against ERCO.

Games in the 45 Above category will have KN Ferraren facing ERCO and Abellana National School Alumni taking on DBUFC.
