THE BASILAN Pride squad that is set to compete in the upcoming Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) will be powered by several Cebuano standouts and Cesafi products.
Expected to lead the charge for the 25th team of the country’s fastest-rising league is former pro, Jercules Tangkay.
The 41-year old left handed Cebuano hotshot will be joined by Mark Jonas Ababon, the 2005 MVP of the Cesafi who has made a name for himself as one of the best point guards on this side of the country.
Also on the Basilan squad are former M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala aces Hafer Mondragon and Criz Dumapig, who once played for Southwestern University-Phinma. The Daa brothers, Dino and
Dennis, will also be reinforcing the team that is being coached by Joseph Romarate and owned by Julz Hataman.
The second season of the MPBL starts on June 12.
The inaugural champion of the league is the Batangas Athletics -Tanduay.
