Dry run for Capitol re-route scheme tomorrow

By: Peter L. Romanillos August 28,2014 - 08:54 AM

Vehicle traffic will be rerouted through the inner roads of the Cebu provincial capitol compound starting tomorrow from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The one-month rerouting scheme will be implemented to allow the Department of Public Works and Highways to do road concreting work on M. Velez Street.

In last Tuesday’s meeting, representatives from the DPWH-7, Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) and provincial officials agreed to hold a dry run of the rerouting tomorrow.

Under the scheme, vehicles bound for Guadalupe via Escario St. will turn right to the Capitol compound and exit through the gate leading to M. Velez Street.

Motorists bound for M. Velez St. from Fuente Osmeña will also turn right and pass through the Capitol inner access road.

From 10 p.m. to early morning at 5:30 a.m., vehicles from the Guadalupe Area can use a single lane in M. Velez Street. The Capitol access road will be off-limits to trucks and heavy vehicles.
