A security guard was injured after he foiled a break-in at a mall he was assigned to in Bogo City early today.

Gerwin Estoya noticed the thieves and called them out. The robbers beat him up with a crow bar before fleeing, said Chief Insp. Germano Mallari, Bogo City police chief.

Mallari said the suspects first rented a stall near the mall for P25,000 prior to the incident.  He said the store manager confirmed that the robbers were unable to get anything from the mall.

Mallari said they are checking the security camera footage to see if the robbers can be identified. The 32-year-old Estoya was brought to a hospital in Cebu City.
