Team Joeric Boxing blames bum officiating in ward’s lopsided loss

TRAINER Edsel Tuñacao of Team Joeric Boxing will file a complaint against veteran referee Teddy Alivio, whom they accused of committing questionable decisions in his ward’s six-round fight last Saturday in one of the undercards of ‘Who’s Next?’ Pro Boxing Series 2 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu Atrium.

Tuñacao alleged that Alivio’s erroneous officiating led to the unanimous decision loss of Team Joeric’s Lenmarj Prescillas to Junfil Taneo of the Omega Boxing Gym.

Tuñacao said the complaint against Alivio will be filed before Games and Amusements Board (GAB) office in Cebu.

Tuñacao stressed that the complaint will be against Alivio alone and will exclude Omega Pro Sports International (OPSI), the promoter of ‘Who’s Next?’ series.

“We just want to let GAB officials know that we felt very disappointed with his officiating,” Tuñacao said.

“We were there to enjoy the fight regardless of the result but he was very biased with his decisions. Everyone saw the fight, even Taneo’s corner was very aware about his questionable decisions.”

Cebu Daily News tried to get the side of Alivio and GAB officials but failed to get an immediate response.
