The Local Finance Committee recommended the release of the P10,000 granting of anniversary cash bonus intended for Mandaue City officials and employees, subject to any appropriation and availability of funds.

Based on the guidelines released by the local finance committee, only those employees, whether appointed or elective, permanent or temporary and contractual appointments, who are hired from January 1 to July 31, 2016 are qualified to receive the incentives.

In the guidelines, employees who have rendered at least a total or an aggregate of three-months of service including leave of absences with pay are qualified to receive the bonus.

If the employee have absence without leave (AWOL) and those who have formally charged with administrative cases and criminal cases are not entitled to receive the bonus.

Job order employees, consultants, laborers and workers who are paid on piecework basis will not receive their anniversary bonus.

If the barangay officials and personnel wish to grant cash incentives, the local finance committee recommended that the funds will be charged to the barangays.

The local finance committee is headed by city treasurer Regal Oliva.

The finance committee is also composed of city budget officer Giovannie Tianero, city accountant Nenita Regencia, city planning and development officer Marlo Ocleasa, city administrator Danilo Almendras, the chair of the city council’s finance committee Nenita Layese, city cooperative officer Ernesto Maringuran and city legal officer Omar Redula.

Last week, City Councilor Nenita Layese endorses the appropriation ordinance to grant of the anniversary bonus, which the city government need P5.6-million to pay for the employees.

Layese said granting anniversary bonus is significant because the city government is celebrating its 47st Charter Day anniversary. Layese said the gesture will certainly cheer up city hall employees.

Mandaue City became a city on June 21, 1969 by virtue of Republic Act 5519.

But Presidential Proclamation 586 designated August 30, 1969 as the date of the formal organization of the City Government.
