Boxing ref Alivio: Nothing irregular in my officiating

VETERAN boxing referee Teddy Alivio maintained he did not commit any mistake when he officiated one of the undercards in last July 30’s “Who’s Next?” Pro Boxing Series 2 at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu Atrium.

Alivio said he is ready to face the complaint that Team Joeric Boxing is planning to file against him before the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).

Trainer Edsel Tuñacao had accused Alivio of erroneous officiating that led to Lenmar Prescillas’ unanimous decision loss to Junfil Taneo.

Prescillas is a stalwart of Team Joeric Boxing while Taneo is under the Omega Boxing Gym.

“Let them file a complaint. There were three judges from GAB at ringside who saw the entire bout,”Alivio told Cebu Daily News.

Tuñacao alleged that Alivio committed questionable calls and the point-deduction slapped against Prescillas was wrong.

But Alivio stood by his decision.

He said Prescillas committed three low blows in the entire fight, and the point-deduction in the sixth round was warranted.

“It was a clear low blow, so I immediately implemented the rules without hesitation. Anyway, the fight was televised, and many people saw it,” added Alivio.
