Surrenderee shot in Tuburan town

A drug surrenderee remains in serous condition after he was shot by a motorcycle backrider while in Barangay 3 in Tuburan town, midwest Cebu, Thursday night.

Joel Lariosa, 32, sustained bullet wounds on his head and body.

PO1 Leliano Pepito of the Tuburan Police Station said that Lariosa was traveling on a motorcycle on his way home to Barangay 6 at about 8 p.m. on Thursday when the still unidentified suspect and his companion tailed him.

Quoting witnesses account, Pepito said, that when Lariosa disembarked to buy something from a convenient store, the gunman also disembarked from his motorcycle, approached him and fired shots at him.

Police recovered 3 empty shells and one live ammunition of a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.

Bystanders brought Lariosa to the Tuburan district hospital. He was later transferred to a Cebu City hospital.

Pepito said that Lariosa was on their drugs watchlist but he surrendered to the police in July.
