Lav Diaz, John Lloyd Cruz, and Charo Santos in Italy for Venice film fest

ACCLAIMED Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz arrived in Italy yesterday (Sept. 7) with the stars of his recent opus “Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left)” John Lloyd Cruz and former ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio.

In photos uploaded by Star Cinema, the three were spotted attending events at the 73rd Venice Film Festival, the Main Competition category of which includes “Ang Babaeng Humayo.”

The film, said to be more than three-and-a-half hours long, also stars Michael de Mesa, Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino, Nonie Buencamino, Marj Lorico, Mayen Estanero, Romelyn Sale, Lao Rodriguez, Jean Judith Javier, Mae Paner and Kakai Bautista.

“Ang Babaeng Humayo” marks Charo’s big screen comeback after appearing in “Alfredo Lim: Batas ng Maynila” which was realased in 1995 and years of executive work at ABS-CBN.

The Venice Film Festival, the world’s oldest major film event, will be held from August 31 to September 10 at the Lido in Venice.

Last February, Direk Lav’s eight-hour film “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis” (which also co-stars John Lloyd) was awarded the Silver Bear

Alfred Bauer trophy at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival.
