Harley Davidson shocks Cebu Landmasters

HARLEY Davidson ended the elimination round of the PLDT SME Nation-Alfredo Gothong 21st SHAABAA Basketball Tournament with a bang as they upset the league-leading Cebu Landmasters, 60–58, in Division A action on Wednesday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.

After struggling during the onset of the tournament, Harley Davidson enters the next round as the hottest team around and proved it with its morale-boosting victory over the Landmasters that gave it an even 4–4 (win-loss) card at the end of the elimination round.

Fletcher Galvez once again came through for Harley Davidson as he scored 23 while Jair Igna and Steven Co added 14 and 11 markers, respectively.

The Landmasters remained at the top of the heap but settled for a 6–2 record. Moncrief Rogado scored 23 to lead the losing side.

In the other Division A game, the Gaisano Capital sent Bayfront Hotel crashing with a 52–44 victory that placed it as the second seed in the next round.

In Division B, Batch ‘97 and AutoLAB ’99 stretched their winning runs with convincing victories over their respective opponents. Batch ‘98 routed Core Pacific 2000, 41–28, while AutoLAB blasted GEF ’98, 56–39. Jeremy Huang scored 20, Kent Ong added 13 while Erwin Hao chipped in 10 to push AutoLAB to a 7–0 mark, just behind Batch ‘97’s perfect 8–0 record.

Dynacast 2001 also crushed Ngohiong ‘94, 66–43, to up its record to 6–2, good for fourth place.
