No trucks delivering butane in Lapu, say officials
AS far as the City Traffic Management System (CTMS) in Lapu-Lapu City is concerned, there have been no trucks transporting refilled butane canisters since they enforced the ban last Monday.
Lily Amplayo, CTMS desk officer, said the barangay officials and police were still visiting butane canister refilling stations and stores to warn them about the city ordinance imposing sanctions on those selling refilled butane canisters.
“Nakahibalo naman gud sila nga gi-ban na dinhi sa Lapu-Lapu, mao siguro nga wala na’y nagkarga ana dinhi (They already knew it is being banned at Lapu-Lapu; thus, they no longer transport them),” she said.
She admitted that it’s possible that some stores are selling refilled butane canisters including in the public market.
But Amplayo believes these are old stocks and the stores will eventually run out of refilled butane canisters before the year is over.
Senior Supt. Rommel Cabagnot, Lapu-Lapu City police chief, said they already warned the businesses and stores about it, and they will crack down on violators.
Violators will be fined P3,000 to P5,000 and their vehicles will be impounded and their business permits revoked.
