FIFTY volunteers revisited the Luknay Creek and gathered sacks of garbage from the vital waterway in San Fernando town, southern Cebu.

Ten employee-volunteers of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc. (TCPI) and materials supplier Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) were joined by 22 Luknay residents during the recent creek cleanup.

Last March 19, eight employees of SEDC contractor Triple-8 joined the cleanup of the same creek, a major tributary of runoff waters from upland Barangays Tonggo and Tinubdan.

The volunteers segregated and properly disposed the garbage they gathered under the Adopt-an-Estero program jointly pursued by TCPI and SEDC with the theme, “Akong Tugkaran, Akong Limpyohan (My Surroundings, I Clean).”

The activity started and ended at the TCPI multi-purpose recreation center where SEDC community relations officer Gines Boltron gave an environmental awareness talk to the participants.
