A fire gutted an auto surplus and repair shop and a nearby house in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City past 9 a.m. Friday.

No one was reported hurt.

Chief Insp. Ronaldo Orbeta, Cebu provincial fire marshal, said the fire was caused by the spark from a welding work inside the shop.

“Someone was doing welding work then the spark fell (into the rubber sheets) and turned into blaze,” he said.

The fire spread through out the shop and its adjacent house.

Fire investigators had yet to determine the total cause of damage.
