After a faulty start, University of San Carlos (USC) finally broke into the win column by downing the University of the Visayas (UV), 2–1, in the collegiate division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) football tournament yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

Gabriel De Leon started the scoring for USC in the 16th minute before UV tied the contest on John Vargas’ goal in the 54th minute. USC, which dropped its opening assignment against University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), 0–1, sealed the win when Yves Caballero scored in the 84th minute.

University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR), on the other hand, eked out a 1–0 win over the defending champion, University of Cebu (UC).

Neil Miñoza scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute.

In the secondary division, USJR suffered its second straight loss following a humiliating 0–10 loss to Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC).

Glen Thomas Ramos and Clyde Vitualla each had three goals to lead DBTC’s lopsided win.

Gyrie Ventolero chipped in two goals, Charles Jubac and Jeremy Laro each had one.

In the other secondary division match, USPF tripped USC–BED,4–2.

Robert Luis Aguilar lifted USPF with three goals while Pyke John Moniño added one. Joseph Antiola accounted USC–BED’s two goals.
