AMELIA “Amy” Pond, a woman arrested for frustrated murder and double murder charges and for being a suspected official of the New People’s Army, will face trial after the trial court judge dismissed a petition questioning the validity of her arrest.

Acting Presiding Judge Marivic Trabajo-Daray of Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 17 dismissed the petition for habeas corpus filed on behalf of Amelia “Amy” Pond.

Pond was arrested last August 19 based on a warrant of arrest that names “Adelfa Toledo,” alleged to be her alias, as the subject. Pond, however, denied that she was Toledo and filed the petition questioning the validity of her detention.

But after court granted the information amended for the two charges of frustrated murder over the deaths of 3 persons in Compostela Valley, which included Pond’s name as among the accused, Daray dismissed the habeas corpus petition filed by Pond.
