Pedicab driver, former tanod shot down in Mandaue
A PEDICAB driver and a former ronda tanod became the latest addition in a growing list of drug suspects who died on the spot after being gunned down by motorcycle-riding assailants yesterday and last Tuesday.
Marlon Seno, a resident of Purok Camote, Barangay Cambaro in Mandaue City, was driving his pedicab when the assailants came from behind and shot him on his left side at 4 p.m. yesterday.
Seno managed to run away before falling down to the ground. PO3 Bryan Berenguer of the Opao Police Precinct said Seno surrendered to police back in July only to return to selling illegal drugs.
In Barangay Cabancalan also in Mandaue City, motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead a former ronda tanod near his home in Barangay Cabancalan, Mandaue City at 8:55 p.m. last Tuesday.
SPO3 Dexter Martin said the 40-year-old resident identified as Lloyd Cañonejo of Eden Homes Subdivision in Barangay Cabancalan was relieved as tanod after testing positive in a random drug test.
He said Cañonejo was shot several times at close range by the assailants who sped away after the incident. The victim was rushed to the Mandaue District Hospital and died an hour later.
Cañonejo didn’t surrender during the police Oplan Tokhang.
