THIS year’s “Lutong Garbo” food match will feature healthy desserts and drinks during the Buglasan Festival on October 1 at the Provincial Agriculture Office in Dumaguete City.
“We want to discover another taste made of local sweets and drinks that can be offered to tourists,” said Lutong Garbo committee chairperson Sylvia Uy.
The competition is open to all local municipal and city residents of Negros Oriental who are endorsed by the local executives who can prepare desserts and drinks using indigenous ingredients.
All participants of the cooking contest must wear appropriate white attire with apron and hair bonnet and provide his/her own utensils and equipment which will be inspected 30 minutes before the contest proper.
The healthy desserts and drinks must be good for 10 persons.
Use of artificial coloring and refined sugar is not allowed, however, the use of muscovados or honey (not commercial) is accepted.
The contestants are given 15 minutes to prepare and set up ingredients.
Winners for desserts competition will receive P6,000 (1st prize), P4,000 (2nd prize), and P3,000 (3rd prize).
For drinks category, the 1st prize winner will get P4,000; 2nd placer, P3,000; and 3rd placer, P2,500.
Both winners in the dessert and drinks will also receive trophies.
Non-winners will each receive a consolation prize of P2,000 and a certificate of recognition.
