A NEPHEW of Mandaue City Councilor Carmelino Del Mar died in a shootout with police during a drug bust operation in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia, Mandaue City at past 4 am Wednesday.

Elvin Sison, a 32-year-old resident of the area, died at the Mandaue City Hospital due to gunshot wounds.

Chief Insp. Michael Angelo Beltran, Centro police precinct chief, said they were supposed to serve a search warrant on Sison at his home but he fired at them, hitting PO1 Ryan Heyrosa in the left knee.

Police fired back and shot Sison several times.

Taken from Sison were one 9 mm pistol, one loaded .45 pistol and packs of shabu.

Sison topped the list of drug suspects of the Centro police precinct and he surrendered to them last August.
