At least 1,000 senior citizens from Barangay Quiot, Cebu City received their financial aid from the Cebu City Hall on Sunday morning.

The distribution started at around 6 a.m. on Sunday today at the residence of former Quiot Pardo Barangay Captain Vicente “Jun” Ramos Jr.

The 1,210 beneficiaries in Quiot were called in alphabetical order to receive their P1,000 in cash assistance.

The Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (Osca) gave out on Sunday the latest tranche of their P12,000 in financial aid from the city government. They earlier received P9,000.

The remaining P3,000 would be distributed on or before Christmas Day.

According to Ramos, service vehicles fetched the senior citizens from their homes to the distribution area so they would not be inconvenient. After receiving the money, he added, the beneficiaries were ferried back to their houses.

Service vehicles are owned by Ramos.

During the term of former mayor Michael Rama, senior citizens claimed the financial aid at the barangay’s covered court.
