Nine construction workers were hurt when a wall, at least 30 meters high, collapsed in the construction site in Barangay Cot-Cot, Liloan town in northern Cebu on Friday afternoon.

Foreman Basilio Acebo said that the northside wall of the CITI Hardware warehouse suddenly collapsed while construction of the warehouse was ongoing.

SPO2 Almer Maglinte, desk officer of Lilo-an Police Station, said that they received a call informing them of the incident at 2:15 p.m.

Maglinte said that they alerted rescue personnel, who rushed to the area and brought the injured persons to the Mendero Medical Center in Consolacion town in northern Cebu.

Workers, who were reportedly hurt, were Lowel Batican, Bongo Cuba, Alex Rosal, Lazaro Capa jr., Joel Procurato, Melvin Proburato, Rene Barrido, Condito Baculao, and Antonio Cuenza.

Azenith Wenceslao, a resident near the area, told Cebu Daily News that they heard a loud thud when the incident happened and thought that an earthquake had occurred.

Police, however, were still investigating the cause of the incident.
