A 47-YEAR-OLD aircon technician died after he was ran over by a 10-wheeler cargo truck loaded with bananas last Thursday at the national highway of Barangay Tangil, Dumanjug town in southern Cebu.

Ricky Belandres, 47, of Calatrava, Negros Occidental, but temporarily residing at Barangay Cogon, Dumanjug town was killed on the spot when the rear tire of the truck ran over his body, said PO3 Ian Joseph Arapok of the Dumanjug Police Station.

Investigation showed that Belandres was on his way home from work at the Poblacion that night when the accident happened.

Belandres was cruising side by side with the truck on his motorcycle along the highway when another motorcycle suddenly overtook him and sideswiped his motorcycle causing him to lose control and crash, landing near the rear wheel of the truck.

Arapok said Lope Acentista, 47, of Barangay Cantangkas, Dumanjug, surrendered to police after the accident and was detained at the police station.

But Arapok said Acentista was released yesterday after he amicably settled with the victims relatives.
