Mandaue readies security, traffic plans for All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day
Security and traffic rerouting are all set for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day in Mandaue on Nov. 1 and 2, respectively.
An initial 300 policemen will be deployed to provide security in all eight cemeteries in Mandaue, namely, municipal cemetery, Saint Joseph Parish Roman Catholic Cemetery, Man Park Cemetery, Grosmar Memorial Garden, Pagsabungan Cemetery, Jagobiao Cemetery, Angelicum Cemetery in Barangay Canduman and part of Cempark Cemetery.
Supt. Jimmy Aguisanda, chief of operations of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said they were also communicating with the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) and the Central Command for augmentation.
Aguisanda said they will start deploying personnel to the terminals on Friday, October 28, when people start travelling to their respective home province to pay respect to their departed loved ones.
Barangay tanods and volunteer groups like the Guardians Brotherhood will also help enforce security.
The SWAT personnel with two K9 dogs will start conducting roving patrol and checking luggage of passengers on Friday at the north bus terminal and in ports.
Bladed weapons, sound systems, liquor and gambling will not be allowed inside the cemetery.
The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) will be closing BB Cabahug, FB Cabahug Streets leading to the four cemeteries in Barangay Guizo but will allow one side parking at A. Del Rosario Street and FB Cabahug Street.
PUJs from Lapu-Lapu City turning left at BB Cabahug Street will be directed to MC Briones highway and back to DM Cortes Street at the reclamation area.
Tricycles to and from Maguikay can use AC Cortes Avenue and Burgos Street.
Glenn Antigua, chief of operations of TEAM, said they will start deploying traffic personnel on October 31 at the closed roads at the cemeteries starting 6 a.m. until midnight of November 3.
