43 houses destroyed by fire in Suba

CEBU CITY–An unattended lighted lamp triggered the fire that hit an urban poor village in Cebu City early Tuesday and affected 43 houses.

At least 36 houses were burned down while seven others were damaged by the fire that broke out at 4:20 a.m. in Barangay Suba, Cebu City.

The blaze was put under control at 5:10 a.m.

Senior Fire Investigator 1 Edwin Handayan said the fire was caused by a lighted lamp that fell inside the house of Edwin Bacalso.

Investigators had yet to determine the number of affected households and individuals.
