USC loses to La Salle

By: John Carlo Villaruel October 27,2016 - 07:53 PM

THE University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors fell way short of their bid for a massive upset Thursday, losing to the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Spikers, 18–25, 14–25, 18–25 in the 21st Philippine University Games men’s volleyball tournament in Dumaguete City.

Coming into their first encounter, both teams tote spotless 3–0 (win-loss) records and were aiming for the solo lead in Group A.

However, the Warriors just could not match the power and accuracy of the Green Spikers, allowing DLSU to walk away with a straight sets victory.

Despite the loss, the USC Warriors still move into the quarterfinal round by virtue of finishing second in their group and will face the top squad in Group C which is being contested as of press time by De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) and National University (NU).

In women’s action, the USC Lady Warriors failed to advance to the next round as they fell to the Adamson University (AdU) 25–17, 25–23, 21–25, 25–16.
