Despite the changes in the weather, passenger traffic at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) remains manageable, said CSBT security management chief Joey Herrera.

Herrera said last Saturday evening’s heavy downpour did not affect the surge of the passengers.

“The rains only drenched the grounds of the terminal wet, causing minor inconvenience to the passengers but nevertheless, the passenger flow was normal. Had the rain poured earlier in the evening at, say, 7 p.m, it would’ve affected the passenger flow greatly,” Herrera told Cebu Daily News.

Herrera said the tents and portalets provided by the Cebu City government were adequate for the queues of passengers waiting to board when the heavy downpour occurred.

CSBT experienced a large turnout of passengers from 2 pm to 2:30 p.m and it normalized at 3 to 6 p.m. “It was because it took most buses longer time to get back to the terminal, which was normal considering the long routes they take,” Herrera said.

CSBT listed 913 bus trips and 41,000 passengers yesterday. “This is a conservative estimate,” Herrera said. Most of these passengers are bound to Bato via Barili town.

Herrera said they expect a steady flow of passengers until Sunday.
