Minglanilla police are going after two motorcycle-riding robbers whom police believed are responsible for at least two robberies in the town in the past few days.

Senior Insp. Florendo Fajardo, Minglanilla Police Station chief, said they already know the identities of the suspects but they are still looking for them.

“We already have their names, but we can’t disclose their identities yet,” Fajardo said during a phone interview yesterday.

Fajardo said the security cameras or CCTVs in the area where the robbers struck had helped them identify the robbers and led them to believe that the robbers were the same persons who robbed at least two people in the past week.

“Naa mi gisundan nga mga suspects nga na-record sa CCTV and we found out nga mao ra ni sila’ng grupoha pero lahi-lahi lang nga motor ilang gamit (We traced the activities of these suspects through the CCTV footages, and we found out that they are that they are the same persons and only that they
have been using different motorcycles),” Fajardo said.

The two suspects are believed to have robbed a lending collector in Sitio Tabay, Barangay Tunghaan, last Thursday.

The motorcycle-riding robbers poked a gun at the lending collector and fled with his P5,000 collections for the day.

Fajardo also linked them a robbery of a man, who lost his mobile phone to motorcycle-riding robbers.

Last Thursday’s robbery was caught in the CCTV and the video of the robbery was uploaded on Facebook. The Facebook post garnered 266 reactions and 1,397 times as of 4:30 pm on Saturday.

The post also elicited mixed reactions from netizens which ranged from distress to anger toward the robbers.

Fajardo also advised the public to be always vigilant and to lending collectors to frequently change their routes as part of their precaution from being robbed.

“Residents must not stick to their accustomed routes and usual time schedules so that the robbers won’t discover their patterns,” Fajardo said.
