Remittance firm to tie up with store owners for expansion

A MONEY remittance company is tapping local microentrepreneurs to bring its financial services closer to the Central Visayas communities and to achieve its expansion goal of setting up at least 500 outlets in the region in the coming months.

Lawrence Ferrer, PayMaya Philippines vice president and head of domestic business, said they would start their Central Visayas expansion in Cebu.

Ferrer was referring to their plan to open 500 Smart Padala Centers in Central Visayas by encouraging store owners to become a “Smart Padala Ka-Partner.”

Smart Padala is the domestic remittance brand of PayMaya Philippines.

“Having a Smart Padala Center is a good source of income. The requirements are simple, and there is no processing or application fee,” Ferrer said.

He also cited the benefits of opening a remittance center in their areas.

Aside from the revenues, these store owners could earn from money remittance services.

They could also offer other complementary services such as telco load, PayMaya and Smart Money load. They can also facilitate bills payment services for their customers.

“With these Smart Padala Centers, we are targeting to serve the entrepreneurs and consumers,” said Rolando Conejo Jr., associate director of PayMaya Philippines, during the Oct. 19 launch of Smart Padala Ka-Partner in Cebu City.

Conejo said that with the remittance center setup, the entrepreneurs could earn profit, and the consumers, especially those from far-flung barangays, could have a convenient way to send their money or pay their bills.
