TEN sporting events in the upcoming Batang Pinoy National Championships in Davao Del Norte and Tagum City may be scrapped.

In an advisory posted in its Facebook page, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) said the possible cancellation is due to the low turnout of participants of the 10 sporting events that included archery, cycling, gymnastics, judo, pencak silat, rugby football, triathlon, weight lifting, wrestling and wushu.

The PSC advised the participants as well as local government units (LGU) participating in the meet not to purchase plane tickets until further notice.

“A follow-up advisory on the final list of sports to be played shall be issued on 04 November 2016,” the advisory said.

The possible cancellation will affect the number of athletes that the Cebu City Niños and the Cebu Province are planning to send to the national meet.

The Niños are planning to field in 290 athletes to compete in the 26 sporting events. Cebu Province plans to send 75 athletes who will compete in 14 events like triathlon, weight lifting and wushu.
