LAPU-LAPU City has a new hauler to deliver their garbage to the Consolacion private landfill facility after it dropped its previous hauler due to its inefficient collection efforts.

In yesterday’s press conference, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said the city government contracted the Lapu-Lapu City-based JJ and J Hauler to collect and dispose of the city’s residual waste at Consolacion town.

She said the previous contractor was affected by the Mandaue City truck ban and the long distance travel from Lapu-Lapu to Naga City and back.

“Our garbage here in Lapu-Lapu is increasing each year and we really need an active garbage hauler of residual waste,” Radaza said.

Adelino Padilla, agricultural technologist of the City Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (CFARMC) and City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) chief, said Lapu-Lapu City disposes an average of 50 tons of residual waste daily and pays a tipping fee of P1,350 per ton of garbage.
