Rivers in Naga City and San Fernando town in southern Cebu overflowed and caused heavy traffic along Cebu South Road following a heavy downpour there on Thursday afternoon.

Naga City’s Rescue Team confirmed that the Langtad River in Barangay Langtad, Naga City overflowed at 3:15 p.m, resulting to an impassable bridge and roads.

Wilfredo Amistad, communications officer of Naga City Rescue Team, said their office’s head engineer Richie Cabigun, received calls from barangay officials of the water overflowing to Langtad bridge 30 minutes later.

Heavy traffic is also reported at Barangay Pitalo of San Fernando town, the neighboring municipality of Naga City.

San Fernando municipal hall’s information officer Karla Casa said flood waters from mountain barangays such as Barangay Ilaya caused the Pitalo River to overflow.

“Both lanes are not passable as of this moment. Waters are waist-level deep,” Casa said.
