Pink Sister Mother Mary Aurora dies at 93
JOSEFINA Marasigan y del Pilar, also known as the “Pink Sister” Mother Mary Aurora, has died at the age of 93.
Her death came as a surprise as it has only been a few weeks since phenomenal love team and Kalyeserye darlings Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza paid her a visit during their European vacation trip.
Their photo with the “Pink Sister” who was seen holding the hands of Alden and Maine to bless them, was shared by Lola Nidora (the character played by Wally Bayola) in Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye segment.
The photo was taken in Bad Driburg, Germany, where the convent of Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters is located.
According to a post by Pepe Alas, who, according to his Facebook profile, is a consultant of San Pedro City Historical Council and is close to Mother Mary Aurora’s family, announced the passing of the “Pink Sister” at the age of 93.
Pepe said Mother Mary Aurora’s real name is Josefina Marasigan y del Pilar. She was one of the national hero Marcelo H. Del Pilar’s granddaughters.
Mother Mary Aurora served as the Mother General of the Pink Sisters for 34 years, leading the religious institute four times until reaching the age of 80. She was also a spiritual adviser to the late president Corazon Aquino during the People Power Revolution of 1986.
“I’m not sure if I should say this, but I’ll say it anyway: Alden and Maine were privileged and blessed to have met Mother Mary Aurora, and not the other way around. I’m sure they will agree. Please pray for her soul’s eternal rest,” read a portion of the post shared by Pepe.
In a Facebook chat with Pepe, he told Cebu Daily News that he is a distant
relative of Mother Mary Aurora. One of his uncles married into her family. Mother Mary Aurora’s sister is his uncle’s mother-in-law.
