FILMS that made the cut for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will be named today.
The official list will be revealed by the Metropolitan Manila
Development Authority (MMDA) for the 42nd year of the MMFF.
Some of the films vying for this year’s MMFF 2016 are: “Enteng Kabisote and the Abangers” of Vic Sotto, Eugene Domingo’s “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2,” Erik Matti’s “Buy Bust,” and Jun Robles Lana’s “Die Beautiful” starring Paolo Ballesteros, who recently took home two awards from the recently concluded Tokyo International Film Festival.
After the controversies rocked the festival last year following the sudden disqualification of “Honor Thy Father” an Erik Matti film, from the Best Picture race last year, the MMFF officials rolled out major changes.
With its title #reelvolution, MMFF calls it as a cinematic revolution, to focus more of its vision to become “a festival that celebrates Filipino artistic excellence, promotes audience development and champions the sustainability of the Philippine movie industry.”
An Inquirer report stated that this year, MMFF will have two
major sections, the full-length film and the short film section, which will both feature eight movies.
The entries will be shown starting December 25 to January 7, 2017.
