Alvarez, Sanchez rule 160-km race

CEBUANO elite runners Bayani Alvarez and Preciousa Sanchez emerged on top in the 160-kilometer Cebu Northwest Ultramarathon that ended yesterday at the Plaza Independencia.

Alvarez ruled the men’s race as he crossed the finish line in 17 hours, 58 minutes and 59 seconds.

Neil Catiil (26:57:40) and Florentino Somera (27:03:35) were his runners up.

Sanchez reigned supreme in the women’s side as she clocked in at 23 hours, 21 minutes and 19 seconds.

Finishing second and third were Rhoda Oporto (26:36:10) and Roselle Abajo (27:19:35), respectively.
