San Fernando, Talisay, Minglanilla topple foes
SAN Fernando, Talisay and Minglanilla all got off to victorious starts after they defeated their respective opponents in the opening of the 1st Samsam Gullas Cup on Saturday at the Enan Chiong Activity Center in Naga City.
San Fernando routed Carcar, 90-75, behind the herculean efforts of Rolan Alferes, who tallied a huge double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Talisay showed off its might with a 92-47 destruction of Sibonga.
Current University of the Visayas Baby Lancer Jhiey Paraldo came up with 24 points, six rebounds, three blocks and three steals as Talisay thoroughly overpowered its opponents.
In the last game, Minglanilla spoiled the debut of hosts Naga, 84-83.
Marc Nebril was at the point of Minglanilla’s attack as he scored 22 points. Kevin Quimson helped out with 17 while Jiesel Tarrosa flaunted his all-around brilliance , scoring 15 points, on top of 10 rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocks.
The tournament is made possible by the leadership of Cebu First District Representative and avid sportsman, Gerald Anthony “Samsam|” Gullas.
