KAPAMILYA actress Jodi Sta. Maria has failed in her bid to bring home an acting award at the 44th International Emmy Awards held at the Hilton New York Hotel last Tuesday.
Jodi was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress for her role as the vengeful Amor Powers in ABS-CBN’s primetime series “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.” She graced the red carpet event with a white long gown designed by Mark Bumgarner.
German star Christiane Paul won the category for her role in “Unterm Radar,” outshining Jodi, UK’s Judi Dench for “Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot,” and Brazil’s Grazi Massafera for “Verdades Secretas.”
“Bridges of Love,” a primetime series also from the Kapamilya network, vied for another award but also didn’t turn out victorious.
The series that starred Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino, bowed down to Brazilian drama series “Verdades Secretas.”
Although she did not win, Jodi was still thankful for the experience of representing the country at the Emmys.
On her Instagram, she thanked her Filipino supporters for praying and cheering for her.
“Attending and being nominated at the 44th International Emmy Awards is a memorable experience. Making new friends, sharing a glimpse of the Filipino hospitality to my fellow nominees, proudly speaking about the beauty of the Philippines and representing the country to 15 nations made it more meaningful and special,” she said.
“I believe we are ready for the global scene… the international stage is opening up and there are opportunities to showcase our talents worldwide,” she captioned her post.
