The dazzling lady from University of San Jose-Recoletos Basak Campus (USJ-R) and gorgeous lad of Cebu Eastern College (CEC) bested other 14 candidates to win the crown as Mr. and Miss South Town Center 2016 held in South Town Center in Talisay City on Saturday afternoon.

The competition’s pair number 8 Jason Jose Acha and Kathyrene Kaye Rollins showed some charisma and wit, leading to their win.

Joining their court are first runners-up Amanda Basnillo of University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Gerome Josef Diaz of University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus (USC-TC); and second runners-up Rachel Anne Tingal of USJ-R Balamban and Nhel Albon of University of Cebu Maritime Education and Training Center (UC-METC).

The candidates were asked “How, as South Town Center Ambassadors, will they promote Filipino values and tradition?” to which Acha and Rollins gave the best answer.

“Being an ambassador gives you somewhat a lot of power. What I want to do is to maintain conservatism. In order to do this, I want to implement some conservative programs such as masses, Sunday schools, and a library where children can learn more,” Rollins answered.

The winners each received trophies, cash prizes, and gift packs from the event’s sponsors.

Cebu Daily News also awarded the Readers Choice Award to Rollins and Johnritch Bejasa.

The pageant, which was on its first run, advocates about caring for the environment.
