POLICE DETAIL

On the day of the protest against the Marcos burial at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani, a police car was seen trailing protesters making their way to downtown Cebu City.

One of the police officers called out to a rallyist and asked who organized the activity. Without hesitation, the rallyist told the officer, “The Cebuanos.”

RIDE SHARE WOES

Despite warnings from government agencies, many Cebuanos still prefer to travel using ride-sharing services.

Threats of arrest and fines have scared away some drivers, leaving the riding public with less vehicles to flag down.

Amid the sudden downpour on Tuesday, many loyal riders were shocked to see fare rates shoot up to as much as five times due to high demand and low “supply.”

ABSENCE

A man charged with theft was supposed to appear in court, but for some reason, he did not make it.

Because the man was not there, the judge decided to move his appearance to six months later.

“And I thought being absent in class was already bad,” a police officer observing the proceedings was overheard saying.
