FOR two years, fans of Ivan Dorschner lost track of the Filipino-American actor and host when he decided to leave the country to study in the U.S.

Just recently, however, he surprised showbiz not just with a comeback but a change in his home studio.

Now a Kapuso, Ivan started out as a teen housemate in the rival network’s reality show. He admits that his return to the industry has not been a walk in the park as he had to familiarize himself again with his new work environment, aside from getting used to working with new colleagues.

“Pagdating ko nung August (this year), umikot po ako sa lahat ng mga studios at mga kakilala ko dati pa and everything,” he shared when asked what brought him GMA, now his home network, during a sit-down interview with the Cebu press last Saturday.

He was with his fellow “Meant To Be” cast members Barbie Forteza, Addy Raj and Jak Roberto for the mall shows to promote their upcoming romantic comedy primetime show slated to air first week of January next year.

Ivan confessed that he was at first confused as to how he’d start his career again but he got help from his friends, James Reid and Nadine Lustre.

“Tinulungan po nila (Nadine and James) ako na makahanap nang maayos na trabaho. It’s very nice of them actually, at ito ang pinakamagandang offer na pumasok sa akin. There were others but this (Meant To Be) is the best, I have to say. I am just happy to be here,” continued Ivan.

The rom-com series is Ivan’s first project with the Kapuso network. He will play the role of Ethan Spencer Hughes, one of the four guys who will be smitten by Billie, the character played by Barbie. Despite having a long distance relationship with another girl, he would find himself falling in love with Billie.

“Taga London po, isang balikbayan. Isa siyang gentleman and he knows how to cook. He has a food truck na ginagawa niyang pangkabuhayan, pero may inheritance naman siya after his dad died,” Ivan said explaining his character.

“Meant To Be” will explore the dynamics of friendship
especially among men who happen to fall in love with the same girl.

Did Ivan find himself in a similar situation? Would he choose a girl over his friends? Or it would it be the other way around?

“It started to happen but I gave up the girl because that friend I’m talking about is a true one. I found out when I gave up the girl and this friend stayed with me even after everything,” Ivan said.
